Before I start I must mention that I think Neighbours has one of the worst spelling. I always have to type it several times before I get it right and even then it doesn't look right..... just having a whinge.
We live on 5 acres in a semi rural suburb. This isn't my choice, I often feel like Lisa from Green Acres, I crave city life and conveniences. My husband likes to live here as he says he doesn't want to live anywhere that we can "hear people rooting" I have never in my life heard "people rooting" and I doubt he has either, however that's reasoning. Having so much space allows us a lovely large home and outdoor areas, for which I do feel very fortunate.
Living out here does not exclude us from crazy neighbours (that bloody word again). We live on a battle axe shaped block and share a long driveway with some lovely people, though across the driveway is our scary loony.
It all started when we first moved in and we had a small dog who escaped and ran into the neighbours poorly fenced property and ate one of their baby chickens, the loony then proceeded to yell at my children (then early teens) that if the little dog ever came over again he would shoot it. I then of course had hysterical kids and me explaining that he wouldn't shoot our dog otherwise he would be in big trouble (fingers crossed tightly behind my back)
Fast forward several years and we've had a few occasions when he's yelled out at the kids that we have blood thirsty dogs etc etc. Unfortunately as my kids have gotten older they've replied with a few choice words that I won't repeat.
We now have 2 German Shorthaired Pointers, who are lovely friendly dogs, but by nature are hunters, so anything on our property such as rabbits, ducks etc get chased. They occasionally catch, but not often. Our loony neighbour has a little Jack Russell, who doesn't stay in their yard, he spends his days teasing the contained big dogs in neighbouring properties. Of course whenever any of the larger dogs happens to escape, they obviously go looking for that annoying little thing who taunts them constantly.
We were away last week, my brother in law was here with our animals, and I had a phone call from our cleaner. The loony had come over with a plank of wood saying our dogs had gotten out and killed his dog. Being 4 hours away I couldn't do a lot, made a few phone calls and stressed majorly. In my mid my dogs had gone on a killing spree and we'd have to have them put down.... etc etc.
Brother in law returned home to find the dogs where they should be and several signs attached to our gate "keep your blood thirsty dogs inside" "killer dogs" and several other lovely comments. BIL took signs down and decided to wait until the morning to talk to him.
The next morning, there's more signs on the fence and lo and behold the little Jack Russell was running around as usual.
Sunday afternoon hubby arrived home and there was a banner across our gate with the words "how can I build my house if you keep stealing all the wood" and more "killer dog" signs. Hubby decided to call the police as the loony was obviously, well, loony. The Police were wonderful and went and warned him not to put any more signs up, he told the police that our dogs spent so much time in his yard that he often wondered who they belonged to, him or us. Complete fabrication of course, our fences are fine and our dogs well enclosed.
So now I've been looking at Real Estate and sending husband links of properties, I'm sure he'd rather "listen to people rooting" rather than have a loony next door...... wish me luck!

Bloggers without Makeup
Inspired by some of my fellow bloggers I decided to join them in Bloggers without Makeup which is the brainchild of Jodie at Mummy Mayhem
When I was younger, I used to scoff at the idea of someone who was so vain and insecure they wouldn't leave the house without makeup......fast forwards 20plus years and yep that's me. I won't even go to the corner shop without at least mascara and lip gloss, and most days I wear foundation even to do the groceries. Mind you, I do like the natural look, in my 20's my ala naturale look was effortless, these days it takes a while.
So here goes, a photo, untouched (complete with bed hair) that not many people get to see

Mothers Day? You've got to be kidding

I've decided I need to come out of the closet, not the sexual closet, the Waltons Closet.....
I grew up watching The Waltons, The Brady Bunch and other such similar family shows. These days I kid myself that my family get togethers will resemble that of a Walton family meal.... my husband warns me but I will not listen. Pfft, I tell him, what are you talking about I reply as he reminds me of our last get together...... so Mothers Day I had eldest daughter, son, husband, Brother in law and niece booked for a wonderful mothers day lunch at the vineyards.
Both my children were massively hung over as they'd been to a Music Festival the day before.... son thought it was ridiculous having mothers day the day after a festival.... I should have seen the signs...
All was going well, if not a little tense, I was sipping my bubbles, ignoring snide remarks from brother and sister (who normally get on like a house on fire)..... then all of a sudden I heard the words "he didn't go to a dog farm, he got put down"...... I froze.... I won't go in to detail only to say it went down hill from there......
Needless to say next mothers day I'm booking myself into a day spa.... feck the lot of them!
I do love my family but need to realise we resemble the Walkers from Brothers & Sisters far more than the Waltons....

First ever post revisited - challenge.
I've been tagged by livemorenow in the meme challenge, here's the challenge
What I want you to do is repost your very first blog post. I want to see how things are different now, if you write differently, if you write about the same topic, if you did a “hi this is why I’m blogging” sort of post or if you just got straight into it.
Then I want you to tag five people to do the same.
My first post wasn't too long ago, and since I don't seem to have a formula or plan, each post seems to be different......anyhow here's my first post......

So we begin...stuff
When I was at school I used to fancy myself a bit of a writer, or maybe I just fancied myself. I also used have a great pair of legs.
As I grew older, and pear shaped replaced the great legs, the role of wife and mother took over any dreams I had (by choice) of writing or aspiring to dizzying heights in any aspect of life. Well believe it or not, time has literally flew by and I'm almost an empty nester (7weeks to go).
Over the last few years a portion of my day usually consists of reading many blogs, I've noticed that earlier blogs were mostly written by writers/journalists or other qualified literary people. Lately, though, there's been a trend of new bloggers, beginners, amateurs, ordinary, everyday people (I mean us special wonderful people) writing "stuff".
Now this "stuff" is often everyday things which occur in most people's lives. Nothing outlandish but nonetheless fun reading. I think the key is with reading this "stuff" is we often relate or sympathise with the blogger which in turns gives us a connection.
So I've decided to take the blogging plunge, I may not be grammatically correct and my sentence structure may be a little fractured from time to time, but what the hell, I'm blogging!!
I don't even know what I'm going to blog about yet, I've decided just to let loose and see what happens. If no-one reads it then so be it, I'll just keep babbling on anyway...............................Well I seem to still be babbling away, nothing startlingly new....
Thanks livemorenow for the challenge, now to pass it on:
