Decision Time... Time.... Time....

I don't know what's happening to me lately but I can't make a decision to save my life. When I was younger and my kids relied on me, I had no problems, I was always able to make fast decisions with no regrets. Not any more.....

I'm trying to book a 2br apartment for 18 days in London when we visit our daughter. We want 2 bedrooms as she will stay with us. I think I have looked at about 2,000 on the internet.... no kidding. I find one, I email the agent, yes it's available, I look at the google map for street view, closest tube station and to work out how my daughter will get to work. Once I'm satisfied I show my husband, who rolls his eyes and says "yes, dear", I email my daughter who replies, it looks great mum, just book it. Then I look at another, which looks better, so I email the agent, yes it's available, I look at the google map for street view etc etc - you get the picture. I think I've done this 25,000 times - ok that is an exaggeration.

I've lost count the amount of emails I've sent my daughter with the subject "the final 2" and asked her to pick, though I've usually sent another couple of emails saying scrap that, look at these final 2, before she's had a chance to reply.

I've even started sending my sister emails with the subject "have a look at this one" I'm sure she just hits reply and says "great" without even looking.

What is wrong with me??? Why do I put myself though this? Why can't I just book it and move on?

One bonus is I know the suburbs around West End, Regents Park, Paddington London and can even tell you what tube line to go on......

What’s the future of the book?

I'm not writing a post today, I'm going to pose the question.
With all the hoopla surrounding the ipad, is it going to change how we read the way the ipod changed music?

What’s the future of the book?

Becoming Grandma

I look forward to becoming a grandmother, I really do. I want to watch my children go through all the horrible stuff they put me through...... no seriously, I think I'll be a fantastic Grandma, I'll be babysitting, spoiling and giving lots of love

------> AS LONG AS THEY DON'T LIVE IN MY HOUSE!!!<------ br="">

My children at the age whereby they could easily make me a grandmother, I'm hoping they'll wait awhile as none of them are really at that stage in their lives, they're too busy living life and having fun.

I have a friend, who'll I'll call Lisa (of course not her real name), now Lisa has had things tough throughout her married years. She suffered several miscarriages, had a son who never made it home from hospital sadly passing away at 6months, after her 3rd child she suffered dreadful post-natal depression which saw her hospitalised several times, she has also since suffered severe depression on and off. Her 20yo son was in a car accident which had him hospitalised for 12 months and he now suffers slight brain damage which hampers his ability to work full-time.......there's more bits and pieces of sadness dotted through Lisa's life but I won't go into detail as I'm sure you get the drift.

The latest dilemma is Lisa's 19yo daughter fell pregnant. Now Chrissy (again name changed), dropped out of school early - possibly due to stress of brothers accident and mothers depression, so is unable to financially support a baby. The father of the baby is a 1st year uni student who made it clear he has nothing to offer, financially or emotionally. Now Chrissy decided to have the baby, and yes she is living with Mum, Dad, disabled big brother and rather troubled younger teen brother.

My friend, Lisa, is distraught. As the children are getting older she was finally starting to gain a little freedom and not have the family responsibility, her husband was scaling back his work commitments so as they could slow down and enjoy life. She feels guilty as she thinks she should be thrilled to be gaining a grandchild, but really, she is dreading it. She's raised her children and now it looks like she's back there again.

I imagine when the baby is born, Lisa will love being a grandma, but I bet she'd love it even more if the circumstances were different.

I know of several other "Lisa's" who are experiencing the same thing. Each time I see them I thank God it's not me. This is my time in my life to be selfish..... and I'm loving it.

Food, Glorious Food....

I've just come back from a relaxing 4 days away with my husband, we headed to Noosa and stayed in a beachfront luxury apartment in Hastings St. We did nothing but relax, shop and eat. Eating on holidays has to be my favourite past time. I always stay where I can walk to great restaurants, eat and drink copious amounts wine and walk (or stagger) back to the room.

Noosa is fast becoming the place for foodies, we didn't get a bad meal, we didn't even get a mediocre meal, the food was superb. Award winning restaurants surrounded us, we agonised every day deciding where to eat.

Tapas was the order of the night mostly, I just love tapas, all those delicious little bits and pieces that you can just eat and not feel full until you stand up and try to waddle home.

I also like to indulge in spa treatments while on holidays, pampering is another Noosa specialty. Top class spa's are everywhere.....

If I had to pick 5 holiday musts which makes the holiday special it would be:

1. fabulous food
2. day spa
3. beachfront accommodation
4. specialty shopping (westfield doesn't count)
5. luxury accommodation

what are your top 5?
